Position Summary

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Environmental Technician who takes pride in protecting the environment while keeping complex operations compliant and running smoothly. In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to our environmental compliance programs, leading inspections, monitoring systems, and driving continuous improvement across wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste operations.

You’ll work hands-on with our facility systems while collaborating across teams to ensure full compliance with NPDES, Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment (IWP), and RCRA requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily environmental inspections across outfalls, control equipment, rooftops, and RCRA storage areas
  • Monitor and document compliance with wastewater and stormwater permits, ensuring all discharge standards are met
  • Perform and record daily outfall observations; respond proactively to irregularities
  • Collect stormwater samples during rain events and manage proper labeling, documentation, and shipment to labs
  • Track wastewater treatment plant flow data and prepare accurate monthly regulatory reports
  • Maintain and update waste profiles and environmental documentation
  • Respond quickly and effectively to spills or environmental incidents impacting plant operations
  • Drive pollution prevention efforts, including procedures, training, and employee engagement
  • Partner with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment and resolve compliance risks
  • Support chemical management for cooling tower systems
  • Cross-train team members and build redundancy across environmental functions
  • Stay current on environmental regulations and maintain required certifications

What Sets This Role Apart

  • High-impact position with direct influence on environmental compliance and sustainability
  • Opportunity to take ownership of key programs and recommend improvements
  • Broad exposure to wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste systems
  • Collaborative environment with visibility across operations and leadership

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Class “B” Wastewater Treatment Operator License (or ability to obtain/transfer)
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance, industrial operations, or equipment troubleshooting
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working with data systems and reporting tools

Work Environment

This role combines office work with hands-on responsibilities across a manufacturing facility, including outdoor areas. You’ll occasionally work at heights, lift up to 50 lbs, and use personal protective equipment as required.

Flexibility is important—this role includes on-call responsibility for wastewater or environmental incidents and may occasionally require weekend work.

Additional Information

  • This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports
  • You’ll have the autonomy to identify issues and recommend solutions, while partnering with leadership on larger decisions
  • All work is performed in alignment with company Code of Business Conduct and environmental standards
