POSITION OVERVIEW

Ascend Performance Materials has a unique need for a talented individual to fill the role of environmental manager/subject matter expert (SME) in Title V air regulations and state air permitting/reporting requirements. This role will be responsible for leading various media environmental compliance programs and continuous environmental improvement efforts at the Pensacola, Florida site. This includes setting direction, coordinating with other Ascend sites and on-site guest companies, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and providing leadership for the Pensacola site environmental team.

TARGETED OUTCOMES

  • Maintain and drive to assure environmental compliance
  • Develop policies, process, and programs to continue to reduce the site’s environmental footprint
  • Assist the business to assure that our environmental permits consider the future growth of the business
  • Dive deep into the site’s air permit to understand all the details of the permit and regulatory requirements
  • Proactively forge positive relationships with area regulators
  • Seek to understand Pensacola’s chemical processes and key individual’s
  • Perform a gap analysis on environmental compliance programs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive to assure overall environmental compliance for the site
  • Establish and set environmental policy for the facility as warranted
  • Provide support to develop, execute, and maintain site compliance with permits and other regulatory requirements.
  • Obtain and modify operating permits in a proactive way to support Ascend’s business requirements
  • Track key compliance metrics and implement systems to improve performance
  • Maintaining a favorable image with communities, regulatory agencies and other companies through active involvement with the FDEP, EPA, and additional stakeholders
  • Participate in environmental audits at other plants and on corporate-wide environmental networks to develop and update environmental related requirements and procedures.
  • Manage the technical activities of air, waste, and water regulations as they pertain to the site
  • Maintain compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations/standards

TEAM

  • Reports to: Sr. ESSH Mgr.
  • Leads a team consistent of: Waste water specialist, hazardous waste/management systems specialist, air compliance specialist, and environmental technician (hourly)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas Industry
  • B.S. Degree in environmental or Chemical Engineering, environmental Sciences or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree in the environmental field is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and planning skills, facilitation skills, computer skills
  • The ability to achieve results through others
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate teams involving diverse work groups.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Environmental management experience is a plus
  • Proactive leadership and team building skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to think on a strategic and tactical level
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
