Engineering Technician V provides senior technical and operational support for industrial planning, production control, logistics, scheduling, material coordination, and project execution. The position performs complex, non-routine assignments and may plan and conduct a complete project of limited scope or manage a defined portion of a larger and more diverse effort.
Responsibilities include developing execution plans, resolving production and material problems, coordinating work across related organizations, integrating technical information, and reviewing the work products of other technicians. The employee selects and adapts established plans, techniques, designs, layouts, and procedures while remaining within approved technical and configuration controls.
The Engineering Technician V works with considerable independence and coordinates with engineers, Technical Project Managers, production-control personnel, logisticians, industrial trades, and government stakeholders.
A sample of duties and responsibilities for this job include but are not limited to:
- Supporting and Executing on the Production Planning and Workload Coordination
- Review of Technical Drawing, Sourcing Material, and Providing Logistics Support
- Tracking of Hardware Progress, Scheduling, and Data-System Support and Accuracy
- Performing and Supporting Technical Assembly and Troubleshooting
- Ensuring Safety, Quality, Material Handling, and Team Coordination
Education | - High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Technical, vocational, military, engineering-technology, industrial, logistics, or production-management training preferred.

Experience | Strongly Preferred: - Minimum of eight years of experience supporting industrial operations.
- Experience planning and conducting technical or industrial projects.
- Experience with production control, scheduling, logistics, material management, or hardware progressing.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, and technical procedures.
- Experience researching material, vendors, components, and obsolescence issues.
- Experience using computerized production, logistics, maintenance, or inventory systems.
- Experience in resolving complex technical, material, schedule, or operational problems.
- Experience reviewing and integrating the technical work of other personnel.
- Prior Department of Defense, Navy, depot, manufacturing, or Government-facility experience preferred.

License, Cert or Registration | Required: - U.S. citizenship is required due to the security-clearance and Government-access requirements of the position.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the personnel security eligibility required for assigned work, up to a DoD Secret clearance.
- Full medical certification, including an ordnance physical.
- Enrollment in the contractor-managed random drug-testing program.
- Required equipment, process, HAZMAT, and safety qualifications must be obtained and maintained.
Preferred: - Licensed and certified to operate a 6,000-pound electric forklift, diesel forklift, and CAT III overhead crane.
- Ability and experience operating a pallet jack and Big Joe stand-behind pallet lift.

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities | - Ability to manually lift up to 75 pounds may be required with this position

- Ability to select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, layouts, and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial planning, scheduling, logistics, and material-control processes.
- Ability to interpret and integrate drawings, specifications, bills of material, and technical requirements.
- Ability to research and evaluate material, suppliers, components, and obsolescence concerns.
- Proficiency with ERP, SWMS, EQL, or comparable Government information systems.
- Ability to analyze cost, schedule, workload, and operational-performance information.
- Strong technical writing, status reporting, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to distinguish matters within assigned authority from those requiring engineering or Government approval.
