Our new positions will be supporting a variety of areas related to cab, custom chassis, and rear body. These positions will be required to be onsite at our Pierce Manufacturing location in Bradenton, Florida. These role will support 1st shift with a schedule of 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM


Job Overview

The position, Engineering Technician, is responsible for designing new, modified, or improved vehicle components and subsystems to support the commercial and custom fire apparatus markets. The Engineering Technician will possess relevant experience with heavy truck, agriculture, automotive, or heavy construction product design. Technician is responsible for being a day-to-day liaison between the manufacturing floor personnel and Engineering. Will Support Engineering Department. The Engineering Technician serves as the day-to-day liaison between manufacturing floor personnel and the Engineering team, providing direct support to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.

Your Impact

  • Design new or modified vehicle components and subsystems, including creation of layouts, diagrams, bills of material, and drawings/schematics of components and assemblies with supporting calculations (i.e. weight, tolerancing, etc.) in support of the overall vehicle design with minimal supervision
  • Take shop measurements and order parts on a timely basis
  • Create and revise drawings and perform other engineering-related tasks as required such as analysis, bills of material creation, manufacturing support, layout work, and supplier contact
  • Build relationships with the production team to create a synergy between their product/process knowledge and your technical skills to discover optimal methods of standard work and implement new tool ideas to improve safety, quality, and cycle time.
  • Investigate root cause of quality problems and work with appropriate department in solving these problems
  • Design vehicle components to meet customer requirements
  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards
  • Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues
  • Select parts and/or design components for compliant and cost/quality-conscious design
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production support
  • Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Oshkosh Way
  • Conduct duties consistent with the company’s mission statement, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Regular attendance required
  • All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma with three (3) years of experience in engineering or equivalent*.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with three (3) years of experience in engineering mechanical/electrical design, computer-aided drawing or equivalent*.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 assembly, sheet metal, and part design workbenches
  • Experience with Windchill PDM software
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as fabricating, machining, and casting
  • 5+ years of experience working with 3D parametric CAD software (CATIA V5, Pro/E, Solidworks, or Unigraphics)
  • Knowledge of automotive and mechanical terms.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.

*Note: equivalent equates approximately four (4) years of on the job experience to one (1) year of formal education.

Pay Range:

$50,400.00 - $77,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
