Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Engineering Technician to join a Battery Manufacturing Engineering team
focused on production process improvement, problem-solving, and pre-production trial activities.
This role is responsible for leading planning and problem-solving efforts during pre-production trials by utilizing and improving systems and procedures for issue identification, root cause analysis, issue resolution, and continuous process improvement. The position also supports the development of organizational engineering capabilities through process standardization and technical knowledge sharing.
This role also offers future opportunities to support process equipment production preparation, including equipment specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and trial activities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support equipment and manufacturing activities.
- Investigate and resolve material, product, and process-related issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and execute work plans and trial plans for validation and problem-solving activities.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation and summary reports to support organizational learning.
- Provide input on process and equipment planning and specifications to support continuous improvement and prevent issue recurrence.
- Utilize and improve systems and procedures for problem-solving and knowledge management.
- Manage individual assignments, track progress, and communicate project status.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Support departmental initiatives focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to standardization and continuous improvement of departmental systems and processes.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through training, feedback, and skill enhancement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or 5+ years of equivalent engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing production preparation
, including project planning, process and equipment planning, specification development, procurement, installation, and production trials (4+ years preferred).
- 1+ year of experience with battery cell manufacturing processes
, equipment, or production trial activities (2+ years preferred).
- Experience with process condition identification, validation, and implementation.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a large manufacturing organization, including production engineering, manufacturing, research and development, or similar functions.
- Experience interpreting and applying engineering specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Experience supporting concurrent product and process/equipment engineering during new product introduction.
- Ability to work weekends, plant shutdowns, overtime (up to 25%), and travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Training or certification in structured problem-solving methodologies (such as TBP, Fault Tree Analysis, 8D, A3, or similar).
- Experience in manufacturing production operations.
- Experience using data analytics tools and techniques.
- Experience with digital engineering software and the ability to read, interpret, and modify engineering models.
- Japanese language proficiency (spoken and written).
