POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, applies skills and knowledge to determine degree of conformance of materials, equipment and installation of materials and equipment to specifications. Performs inspection of various project activities; generates reports of conditions found during inspection activities; Notifies management of significant problems; Completes documentation to attest to satisfactory completion of inspection or test activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Take direction from the Quality Lead/Supervisor and be a Team player
  • Inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during the daily activities of the overall construction on large scale Industrial projects. Included but not limited to, a wide variety of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Demonstrates good organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Conduct daily activities in a highly organized manner to ensure all QC / inspection data is properly and accurately recorded
  • Daily monitoring and recording of all work as required by the Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
  • Prevents deficiencies while working closely with field operating teams, through pre-construction quality control inspections
  • Detects deficiencies and addressed deficiencies in a timely and effective manner
  • Work closely with the field quality staff acting as their field representative ensuring construction understands and follows the QA/QC requirements
  • Interface with field supervision to maintain an open line of communication
  • Maintain complete and accurate records during inspections so they can be transferred to permanent hard copy and/or electronic files
  • Inspect the work and establish punch lists
  • Have a working knowledge of the code(s) of construction being used for the project
  • Capable of determining calibration status of measuring and test equipment
  • Ensures daily quality task schedules are met to meet the project schedule
  • Interacts cross-functionally with craft personnel and other team members
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Other Duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) plus 5-10 years' experience in the Construction Trades, Shop or field fabrication and QC
  • CWI, CIP Level 1 or 2 a plus but not required
  • Must be able to read/interpret GA drawings & P&ID’s
  • Must be able to use testing and inspection tools (example: Gal-Gauge, Pick Gauge, Hi-Lo gauge, Filler Gauge, and so-forth)
  • Pipe fabrication, tanks (API-12F), Vessels, welding fabrication, blast/coating/paint inspections to ensure NACE requirements are met.
  • A good grasp / working knowledge of ASME / AWS Codes, section 8, Div. 1 & 2, B31.3, AWS D 1.1
  • Able to interpret data sheets, MTRs, and other specification documentation as required.
  • General computer knowledge required. Proficiency in Word & Outlook.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to independently perform work such as walkdowns and inspections
  • The Quality Inspector must be a self-starter, be organized and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and technical procedures.
  • Write daily reports and document project activities
  • Effectively collect and record field data to assure activities are conforming to corporate Quality Control procedures. Ensures the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned project task
  • Ability to solve problems individually and in a team setting
  • Compare J-Box, Control Panel, Electrical Equipment wiring drawings and red-line them against vendor drawings
  • Prior Electrical equipment testing experience is a plus
  • Ability to use megger/fluke meters (if required)
  • Ability to understand equipment test results provided by electrical vendors
  • Knowledge of NEC code is a plus
