Job Summary:
The Engineering Quality Assurance plays a critical role in ensuring the rigor, consistency, and reliability of engineering processes across American Battery Solutions (“ABS”). This position supports the continuous improvement of engineering processes, with a strong focus on Automotive Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination (ASPICE) systems, engineering practices, software quality, and documentation excellence. The ideal candidate has a strong background in engineering quality, embedded software, or systems engineering and is passionate about driving disciplined engineering execution.
Responsibilities:
- Support the continuous improvement of the Quality Assurance process and associated methods and templates.
- Conduct reviews of engineering work products (requirements, architecture documents, design specifications, test plans, models, and other deliverables) to verify compliance with defined quality criteria for the work products and adherence to defined review methods.
- Identify and report process gaps, nonconformities, or inefficiencies and recommend corrective or preventive actions to enhance overall process maturity.
- Support engineering teams in preparing for internal and external ASPICE assessments, including evidence collection, gap analysis, and improvement planning.
- Review engineering deliverables for consistency, completeness, traceability, and alignment with engineering quality requirements.
- Support the development and maintenance of engineering templates, checklists, and standardized documentation practices.
- Work with engineering teams to incorporate quality requirements early in the design and development phase (front-loading quality).
- Development and deliver training to engineering teams on engineering process execution, engineering quality principles, and best practices for documentation and testing.
- Provide guidance to engineers on proper process usage, documentation quality, and compliance expectations.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource for interpreting ASPICE requirements and translating them into practical engineering tasks.
- Ensure software and engineering configuration management practices comply with ASPICE and internal standards.
- Verify version control discipline, branching strategies, release management processes, and traceability of changes.
- Support continuous improvement of configuration management tools, workflows, and documentation.
- Maintain, monitor, and report engineering quality metrics, including review findings, defect trends, process adherence metrics, and traceability completeness.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends, risks, or systemic issues and support root-cause investigations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate engineering quality, efficiency, and process maturity across the organization.
- Partner with systems engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, validation/testing, program management, and product quality teams.
- Support alignment between engineering processes and organizational standards for quality, compliance, and functional safety.
- Ensure engineering quality issues are communicated, tracked, and resolved in coordination with project teams
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in engineering quality assurance, systems engineering, embedded software development, or engineering process governance required.
- Advanced knowledge of ASPICE or similar engineering process frameworks required.
- Experience reviewing engineering documentation and work products (requirements, designs, test plans, code, etc.) required.
- Familiarity with embedded software development workflows, coding standards (e.g., Motor Industry Software Reliability Association (MISRA)), and software testing practices required.
- Strong understanding of engineering configuration management tools and principles (e.g., Git, Apache Subversion (SVN), Polarion, Jama, or equivalent) required.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical teams and influence process adherence.
- Experience supporting ASPICE assessments or audits preferred.
- Experience using the Stages process management tool preferred.
- Experience working in automotive, battery systems, energy storage, or other regulated industries preferred.
- Knowledge of model-based development, systems engineering standards (e.g., ISO 15288) or functional safety frameworks (e.g., ISO 26262) preferred.
