Description

Position Summary:  Responsible for collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, operations and internal and external tooling suppliers to support planning and executing new and existing MBG projects while continuously monitoring project health to ensure alignment with planned delivery objectives.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure all phases of the project align with business goals and deadlines.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Manufacturing / Operations) and external partners (suppliers, clients) to keep everyone aligned on project goals and expectations.
  • Budget Management: Support the development and monitoring of project budgets (ROI, CAPEX, etc.), identify cost control measures and opportunities, and ensure financial resources are allocated effectively without compromising project quality.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle to minimize disruptions and ensure project stability.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the project meets engineering and manufacturing standards by implementing and overseeing quality control measures throughout each phase.
  • Resources: Identify human and material resources, including team assignments, equipment needs and usage, and coordination with tooling suppliers to maintain efficiency.
  • Project Execution and Control: Monitor project progress using performance metrics, ensuring timely completion of milestones and adjusting plans as necessary to stay on track.
  • Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management, stakeholders, and team members, presenting project status, key milestones, and any issues or changes.
  • Continuous Improvement and Lessons Learned: After project completion, evaluate processes, identify areas for improvement, and incorporate lessons learned into future project planning and execution strategies.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Work with new product development stakeholders, including Engineering, Naval Architects, Operations, Sales, etc. to establish overarching project goals and delivery timeframe.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of MBG’s brands and models, and its design and manufacturing methodologies to tailor project plans for delivery success.
  • Continuously seek to identify opportunities for product and process improvement.  Work with operations to implement changes.
  • Support design and operations reviews of new products during development stage.
  • Support plug buy-off with Product Designers and Naval Architects.
  • Liaise with Lamination teams to buy off new production mold tooling from suppliers.
  • Coordinate and track tooling deliveries.
  • Coordinate with MBG Operations regarding scheduling and build of prototype boats and production launch
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or technical field preferred; 4 years’ work experience in project management preferably in a boat building or manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PMP / PMI Certification preferred. Versed with project management tools and software’s (e.g. Smartsheet, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams). Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in priorities. Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to elicit cooperation from all disciplines within the company.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and vendors.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume, proportions and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
