Job Overview:

Engineering Manager – Modernization Services

This position is key to the Services business growth ambition by delivering engineering solutions around Energy management and Industrial automation. Role is to lead the engineering function covering – Modernization & Retrofit projects. This includes augmentation of electrical power systems across Smart industries, Data Centers, Intelligent Buildings, Utilities-substations and Intuitive homes.

 

Role is accountable for delivering complete Design & Engineering solution for augmentation jobs in existing MV,LV distribution networks including Transformers, Panels, Circuit breakers, Power & control cables, Bus ways, Protection relays, Earthing, Supervisory & Control system at customer site. The incumbent will lead a small team (5-8nos of Electrical & Mechanical Engineer). He/She shall understand customer requirements for retrofit, do study existing set-up which is to be retrofit, finalize the basic type of solution using best fit Schneider Electric/3rd party products. He should make detailed engineering drawings - SLD, GA, Schematic, BOM, cost estimation and provide the inputs to tendering & BMD for quoting to customer. On receipt of customer order, final drawings, GTP, BOM are to be submitted to customer & take necessary approvals. The incumbent shall provide technical support to project execution & field engineers while the project is under execution. Work on competitive equipment is also part of the role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

·     Deliver design for complete electrical distribution network (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Schemes)   

      including LV/HV Switchgears, UPS, Transformers, Power & control cables, Bus ways, Protection     

       relays, Battery chargers, Earthing, Supervisory & Control systems

·     Do the feasibility study & provide cost estimation with optimized solution for bidding.

·       Participation as technical SME for Go-No Go decisions.

·       Improvement to project “As delivered profitability” by Value engineering and change or variation orders

·       Working in tandem with manufacturing plant engineering, project management (PMO) and manufacturing teams delivering projects within budget & timelines

·       Design conceptualization, network studies including fault levels, load flow, arc flash, protection coordination and equipment sizing

·       Driving SE – Digitization initiative specifying & enabling EcoStruxture Asset Advisor, EcoStruxure Transformer expert & Eco consult

·       Release detailed drawings to manufacturing & IG/OG suppliers for purchase.

·       Independently making GTP, Schematic, SLD and GA drawings of above in AutoCAD / ProE

·       Full understanding & hand-on experience of interlock logic with hardware and soft logic block diagram

·       Engineering & design review & validation ensuring “first time right & in time” design output.

·       Addressing customer queries / non-compliance points & securing on time engineering approvals

·       Lead, Guide & Motivate team of design engineers for delivering quick & cost effective retrofit solutions

·       Understanding NIT specifications of reputed consultants and make match / deviation with proposed products/solution

·       CSAT Management for project end user including failure analysis of product/application

·       Frequent meetings with customers all across country – On Site/Off site for scope understanding, estimation & problem resolutions

·       Prior working experience in a project lifecycle set-up from Pre-bid opportunity assessment to Project Kick-off, milestone-based stage gate review, resource planning & scheduling, profitability & risk control

·       Working in close collaboration with Marketing & offer development team on new solutions development & their commercialization.

·       To implement best practices using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, QVE & understanding process/product safety

 

Skills Required :

·       Specifications & documents writing

·       Knowledge of IEC & IEEE standards

·       Proficiency in engineering concept of Power & distribution transformers, UPS, DG sets, LV/MV panels, Circuit breakers/Numerical Relays, RMUs, GIS, Instrument transformers, Smart meters, PLC/Drives

·       Read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures, professional documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

·       Project management (PMP) experience or certification will be given preference.

·       Risk taker, fast decision making, result oriented

·       Demonstrate strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills

 

Qualifications & Experience:

·       12+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility of switchgear Industry

·       Engineering graduate with previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic familiarity of financial and accounting practices.

·       Working experience on design tools like Auto CAD, Pro-e, eTAP

·       Work experience on Project Management tools like SAP – PS module, MS Project, Gantt Charts
