Job Overview:

**Engineering Manager – Machining & Automation – Leadership Focus

**

**Salary: $110,000 – $140,000+

** (flexible based on experience)

**Schedule:

**

  • Direct Hire

  • On-site – Shelby Township, MI

  • Monday – Friday

**Position Overview

**

We are seeking a highly capable Engineering Manager with a strong focus on leadership, mentoring, and team development within a machining and automation-driven manufacturing environment.

This role will lead a team of 6 engineering professionals, supporting both production and new program launches, while driving execution, continuous improvement, and operational performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, people-first leader who can develop talent, remove roadblocks, and ensure engineering efforts are aligned with business goals. A strong background in CNC machining, automation, and manufacturing processes is critical.

**What You’ll Own:

**

**Leadership, Culture & Team Development

**

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineering professionals (production & launch)

  • Foster a culture of:

  • Conduct 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and development planning

  • Identify skill gaps and create training and growth opportunities

  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent

**Engineering Execution & Delivery

**

  • Own delivery of all engineering commitments and initiatives

  • Ensure projects and launches are:

  • Establish structured execution rhythms including:

  • Allocate engineering resources effectively to meet business priorities

**New Program Launch & Operations Support

**

  • Drive successful new product launches, ensuring timing and cost objectives are met

  • Support production with:

  • Remove barriers to execution by addressing technical and capacity constraints

**Engineering Operations & Continuous Improvement

**

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase:

  • Develop and maintain:

  • Oversee engineering change management processes

  • Support new product development and process optimization efforts

**Cross-Functional Collaboration

**

  • Partner closely with:

  • Represent Engineering in cross-functional meetings

  • Communicate priorities, risks, and progress clearly to leadership and teams

  • Drive data-driven problem solving and decision making

**Qualifications

**

**Required

**

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering OR equivalent experience

  • **5+ years of engineering leadership experience

**

  • Strong background in:

  • Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams

  • Strong project execution and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

**Preferred
