Description

You want to learn how parts of planes are made and what makes them so spectacular? If so and you are a passionate, energetic self-starter, you want to intern at our small, growing manufacturing company! Quality Aluminum Forge, a SIFCO Industries company, supplies components and assemblies to the important commercial and military aerospace markets.
INTERNSHIP PERIOD: 6 Months, with opportunity to extend
INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn forging, heat treatment, secondary manufacturing sequences and non-destructive testing processes
- Assist with implementation of new product design and product improvement efforts managing product development process through various stages including prototype development and certification, material / labor costing, and production methodology.
- Assist with the review process of customer purchase orders for forgings / dies.
- Create and improve standard work procedures and effectively communicate / train to instructions.
- Support continuous improvement activities; apply Lean, Six Sigma, and sound RCCA tools.
PROJECT RELATED:
- Work closely with site experts and department leaders to design and execute against improvement projects. Apply engineering analysis and critical thinking to solving problems with production processes and equipment related inefficiencies.
- Develop simple cost justifications based on business data.
- Utilize standard continuous improvement tools to assist in documentation of projects.
- Example projects may include:
- 6S Organization and Control of tooling/fixtures
- Implementation of 3D Scanner for Inspection
- Job Clocking Data Analysis to update Standard Hours of production routings
Qualifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Must be enrolled in an accredited program, and have completed two years of study in preferably one of the following fields:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Materials Science, Metallurgy
