Responsibilities:

  • Creates tooling layout drawings for quotation purposes to determine material usage, progression, and optimum strip width.
  • Establish and document tool set-up methods for engineering and production use.
  • Work with operations on cycle times and tooling catalogs
  • Assist in the design and sourcing of all types of basic jigs, fixtures, and inspection gauges, as well as basic automation components, equipment, and work-cells.
  • Develops, proposes and implements tooling and equipment improvements to foster an environment of continuous improvement on the shop floor.
  • Serve on Kaizen teams to support 3P, Standard Work, and 5S activities, aiding Lean Manufacturing activities.
  • Modify existing/implement new process lines with objective of reaching 85% OEE.
  • Properly apply DOE methods to evaluate processes.
  • Assist in the process to formulate and produce prototypes and samples.
  • Support release parts into production (Routings, BOM’s and Work Instructions)

Specific Projects for this Term:

  • Assist production stabilization of Gen V Machine and Trabak auto welder.
  • Measure cycle times across work centers and update routings
  • Create work instructions and update standard work documents.
  • Design in-process racking, tooling, fixturing and assembly jigs to aid production processes
  • Create standard setup instructions and visual work instructions for SMED projects on stamping presses
  • Assist with engineering to make sample parts for customers.
  • Support die cataloging and obsoleting

Special Circumstances with the Job:

  • Occasional travel to vendors/suppliers.
  • Must participate in GROWTTH (Lean Manufacturing) programs and projects.

Qualifications:

Candidate must be enrolled full-time in an accredited 4-year Engineering Program. AutoCAD or Solidworks experience required. MS Project experience is helpful.
