Engineering Documentation Coordinator
Location: Johnson Creek, WI
Employment Type: Full-time, on-site
Reports To: Director of Engineering
Pay Range: $22.00 to $27.00 per hour, based on experience
Position Overview
Saelens is a growing precision manufacturing company seeking an Engineering Documentation Coordinator to create, organize, and control the technical information used by Engineering and Production. This position will develop and update machine setup books, work instructions, engineering drawings, process documentation, and related records. The role will also coordinate document reviews and approvals, maintain revision control, release current documents, and ensure obsolete versions are removed from use and properly archived.
Key Responsibilities
· Create and maintain machine setup books, work instructions, process guides, and other manufacturing documentation.
· Work with engineers, technicians, supervisors, operators, Quality, and other subject-matter experts to gather and verify technical information.
· Incorporate photographs, diagrams, tooling information, process parameters, quality checkpoints, and safety requirements into documentation.
· Observe manufacturing processes and translate technical information into clear, step-by-step instructions.
· Organize and maintain engineering files, drawings, specifications, photographs, approvals, and supporting records.
· Manage document review, approval, release, revision, and archival processes.
· Maintain revision histories and help ensure outdated documents are removed from points of use.
· Support documentation updates related to engineering changes, new products, equipment changes, and process improvements.
· Standardize document templates, file structures, naming practices, and record keeping methods.
· Assist with document audits and verify that required records are accurate, complete, and accessible.
· Provide general documentation and administrative support to the Engineering department.
Requirements
Qualifications
· Experience in engineering support, manufacturing documentation, document control, technical writing, or a related role preferred.
· Manufacturing or CNC machining experience is strongly preferred.
· Ability to understand technical processes and convert information into clear written and visual instructions.
· Strong organization, written communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic file-management systems.
· Ability to take and edit photographs and incorporate visual information into technical documents.
· Ability to manage multiple documentation assignments and meet established deadlines.
· Familiarity with engineering drawings, manufacturing terminology, ERP systems, quality standards, or document-control practices is preferred.
· High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education in engineering technology, manufacturing, technical writing, business, or a related field is preferred.
Working Conditions
· Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
· Regular time on the production floor is required to observe processes, gather information, and verify documentation.
· Required personal protective equipment must be worn in designated manufacturing areas.
· Position involves regular computer work, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
