We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join our MQ-9B Program Engineering group located in Poway, CA focused on development and fielding of MQ-9B SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian UAS for the country of India.

This Project Engineer will support global strategic supplier development efforts to establish Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) as well as production of MQ-9B subsystems and components within India.  In this role, the Project Engineer will play an integral role establishing indigenous MRO and production capability within India meeting contractual and strategic goals for this program.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work collaboratively with India suppliers to include development of work packages, contract elements and collaboration work products.
  • Develop supplier SOWs for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services.
  • Prepare RFP packages for suppliers.
  • Develop Product Service Agreements with suppliers.
  • Validate standardized work instructions with production.
  • Develop list of special tools, fixtures, and test equipment needed for repair work.
  • Prepares Depot Bill of Material (BOM) kits for repairs.
  • Document special processes and certification for repair work.
  • Document long lead items for System Spares, Payloads, Depot Parts and Tools.
  • Identify and document required depot training for repair work.
  • Assists in preparation of technical data package for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) production in India.
  • Prepare monthly Program Progress Status reports with IMS schedule updates.
  • Support supplier/customer meetings, take minutes and follow up action items.
  • Prepare internal program review updates.
  • Review RFI responses from international suppliers; track supplier responses and summarize key findings.
  • Assist in technology transfer and provide product engineering support.
  • Maintain production progress tracker with any new purchases.
  • Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination elements, and special requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD.  May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.  
  • Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project and/or program leadership including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
  • Must posses the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles; resolve unusually complex technical problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be a technical expert in one or more areas of engineering.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, invited to present one or more original works to a national or international engineering symposium, and invited to Chair engineering review panels as a technical expert are desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
