We have an exciting opportunity for a GCS (Ground Control Station) Project Engineer in our Project Engineering group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues encountered during Ground Control Stations (GCS) builds and software development, working across production and lab environments to maintain project timelines and system functionality.
  • Perform system level design of the GCS for GA-ASI UAV system.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop, document, and validate GCS Production Test Procedures (PTP) that ensure quality and consistency across Ground Control Station builds.
  • Develop new designs or modifications of existing systems as required to meet project goals.
  • Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results.
  • Review Statements of work (SOW) and define Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) project tasks and responsibilities.
  • Work with other GCS team members to define system design requirements.
  • Work with other groups such as Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Program Management personnel to facilitate task completion.
  • Oversee sustaining engineering tasks and work closely with manufacturing on the integration of new and existing GCS assemblies and sub- assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
  • Work with CAD Designers and other engineering support organizations, produce documentation such as engineering drawings (mechanical assemblies, interconnects, cables), source control drawings, system specifications, and test procedures.
  • Deliver technical presentations, such as PDRs and CDRs.
  • Provide project leadership and direction to design or technical staff. 
  • Interact with Program Management and customer personnel to review or define project requirements.
  • Prepare engineering proposals with technical specifications, cost analysis, and implementation plans for Ground Control Station solutions.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD.  May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
  • An understanding of AC electrical power distribution systems and wiring code is desirable.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, and invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium are desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • Must understand basic troubleshooting and equipment setup techniques.
    Strong troubleshooting skills and proficiency in equipment setup and configuration.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Must have a working knowledge of analog and digital audio signals.
  • Must have a working knowledge of RS422, RS485, RS232,AIRC-429 and MIL-STD-1553 serial communications protocols.
  • Preferable basic knowledge of networking, Ethernet cabling, IP addressing, Subnets, H.264/265 etc.
  • Preferable basic knowledge of Linux operating systems with a primary focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Preferable basic knowledge of Virtual Machines (VM) and containerization.
  • Preferable basic knowledge of server infrastructure, hardware components, and data center fundamentals.
  • Preferable basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles, compliance frameworks, and classification segmentation.
  • Must be able to document equipment and system configurations.
