General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer within our US Marine Corps engineering group.  This position supports the fleet of USMC MQ-9A aircraft, including systems at domestic and overseas sites.  This engineer provides hands-on technical support for fleet training exercises, and maintenance and troubleshooting efforts.  This engineer also provides technical reach back support to the customer, interfacing with GA-ASI and customer functional engineering teams as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Represents GA-ASI at customer training events, will be the primary focal point for real time technical support, to ensure mission readiness of GA aircraft systems
  • Manages sustainment of deployed aircraft and ground systems, leading on-site maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Supports information requests from partners, including customer engineering and executive leadership
  • Contributes to technical trade studies that feed into long range planning of system configuration, and technology roadmap
  • Interfaces with GA functional engineering teams in support of technical investigations
  • Produces engineering estimates to support new business creation activities
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree.  May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
  • Must have hands on experience with GA-ASI aircraft systems, in particular, experience with avionics and aircraft maintenance.
  • Must have a solid understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, and  experience applying those in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to manage a schedule and track multiple milestones and deliveries.
  • Must have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, to include leading a team of engineers.
  • Able to work extended hours and travel, to include international sites, as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required
