Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
Under general supervision with limited review, this position supports the design and development of advanced electronic components, equipment and systems for unmanned air vehicles. Assignments are normally accompanied by general instructions and suggestions, outlining possible approaches, sources or information.
DUTIES AND RESPONSILIBILITIES:- Responsible primarily for digital designs targeting AMD/Xilinx FPGAs but with some elements of analog interface and power conversion circuit design with appropriate analysis and/or CAD modeling.
- Responsible for designs that may include microprocessors and vector processors generated using high level design tools.
- Desirable areas of experience: System on Chip, embedded firmware development
- Desirable tool experience: Xilinx/AMD ISE, Vivado, Matlab, Simulink. System Generator.
- Desirable tool experience: JTAG boundary scan test and debugging
- Documentation and record keeping necessary to support version control, production release and training.
- Required to provide field support as needed.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
