SUMMARY OF POSITION:


Engineer II is the next career development step from ENG I. The Level II Engineer has demonstrated mastery of their respective discipline at the individual contributor level and is ready to begin leadership skills training. This role will also participate and lead with supervision on select continuous improvement projects. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Train as a lead for the development, evaluation, and improvement of manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Develops the processes, identifies the materials and supplies to be used, and designs appropriate fixtures necessary for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Execute application development and continuous improvement projects
  • Support product development transfer to production activities
  • Responsible for the creation of assembly instructions for new products to be manufactured.
  • Maintains the processes and routings to handle discrepant material, returned products (RMAs), and internal jobs to be reworked.
  • Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed involved in performance of production and other worker operations to establish standard production rates and to improve efficiency.
  • Institutes change for production processes and/or recommends adjustments to established processes through change control
  • Confers with the engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Performs engineering activities in compliance with established company and manufacturing standards, engineering principles, customer requirements, and related specifications.
  • Confers with vendors to determine part specifications and recommends the purchase of equipment and materials used in manufacturing.
  • Interacts with all factory employees, appropriate management and operations personnel, and other department personnel. Communicate with the Engineering Manager to obtain instruction, assistance, and communicate concerns.
  • Implements and adheres to the Company’s environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Understands the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, as applicable to the engineering department.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets common industrial, manufacturing, and technical procedures, professional journals, schematics, diagrams, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Writes reports, business correspondence, assembly instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in the precision manufacturing industry
  • GD&T knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge and experience with chemical processing and anodizing
  • Computer literacy including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, & CAD software
  • Organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting failure analysis test plans (destructive and non-destructive).
  • Able to analyze complex data using analytical tools, run workflow time studies, and implement solutions to balance production flow.


PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • 6 Sigma certification.
  • GD&T certification.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or bending to the floor; use hands to finger, handle or feel parts and materials; reach with hands and arms and overhead; and talk and/or hear instructions and equipment sounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or moving items up to 40 pounds.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:

  • Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
  • High noise levels from operating machines.
  • The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit).
  • Approximately 80/20 office and shop floor environment.
  • Low noise levels in office environment.
  • High noise levels while working near operating machines.
  • Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts.
  • Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist.
