Photronics is seeking an entry-level Equipment Engineer I to support manufacturing equipment performance and reliability within our high-technology photomask facility. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who is passionate about semiconductor manufacturing, continuous improvement, and hands-on technical problem solving in a cleanroom environment.

Position Summary

The Equipment Engineer I supports the performance, reliability, installation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment. This role partners closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Facilities, and Quality teams to ensure tool uptime, yield improvement, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support for assigned manufacturing equipment

  • Troubleshoot equipment performance issues and lead root cause analysis efforts

  • Support installation, qualification, and startup of new tools and systems

  • Monitor equipment metrics and data trends to identify improvement opportunities

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and training materials

  • Partner with manufacturing technicians to improve safety, quality, cost, and output

  • Ensure compliance with cleanroom, safety, and quality standards

  • Interface with equipment vendors for technical support and upgrades

  • Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives

Qualifications / Skills / Attributes

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical capability

  • Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Basic data analysis and statistical process control (SPC) knowledge preferred

  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills

  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or related discipline) required

  • 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience preferred

  • Internship, co-op, or manufacturing experience a plus

  • Cleanroom or semiconductor industry experience preferred but not required

Work Environment

  • Semiconductor cleanroom manufacturing environment

  • Required use of cleanroom attire and protective equipment

  • Combination of hands-on equipment support and computer-based analysis

  • May require extended periods of standing and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
