Job Description:

Parsons Corporation has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer I – Civil/Roadway in our Pasadena, California office. This position will support highway and transportation projects throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area and Southern California.

The Engineer I performs a variety of engineering duties by applying basic engineering techniques and analyses within the civil/transportation discipline. This is a developmental position in which the successful candidate will work under close supervision while gaining experience with engineering theories, practices, company procedures, and project delivery.

Assignments may include exposure to project controls, procurement, construction management, and other engineering disciplines. Some work may involve computer-aided engineering and computer-aided design applications.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with the flexibility to work from home approximately 2–3 days per week. Occasional travel to client offices, construction sites or other project locations may be required.

Responsibilities

• • Perform engineering and design assignments requiring the application of fundamental civil engineering principles and theories.
  • Prepare or assist with engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, field surveys, and roadway designs.
  • Assist with the preparation of material, equipment, service, and subcontract requisitions.
  • Support the review of supplier drawings, technical submittals, and bid analyses under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist with the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets, reports, and construction documents.
  • Support the preparation and review of roadway, grading, drainage, utility, and transportation design plans.
  • Coordinate with CAD designers and drafters working on the same project.
  • Assist with project documentation, field observations, and coordination with clients, agencies, contractors, and project teams.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Typically 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training EIT certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Caltrans or California highway projects is preferred.
  • Internship or academic experience in roadway, transportation, or highway engineering is an asset.
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively under the guidance of senior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to client offices, construction sites, or other project locations.

Skills and Competencies

• • Basic knowledge of civil and transportation engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with roadway design, grading, drainage, utilities, quantity takeoffs, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and standard computer applications.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.

Salary Range: $63,600.00 - $111,300.00
