1 - First ShiftJob Summary
Are you motivated by strengthening product quality early and ensuring consistent performance during new product launches? As an Engineer II – Advanced Quality Planning, you will independently apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools, conduct capability studies, engage with suppliers, and support the smooth execution of the New Product and Process Development System (NPPDS). Your work helps protect Vermeer product performance and enhances customer satisfaction.What You’ll Do
1. Execute APQP and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) deliverables by defining quality goals, identifying risks, and supporting mitigation efforts aligned with program timelines.
2. Complete assigned NPPDS tasks in areas such as part and process capability, gage development, calibration, metallurgy, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
3. Perform capability studies by interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements and evaluating significant and critical characteristics to validate feasibility.
4. Communicate engineering change updates and maintain accuracy of assigned APQP and NPPDS documentation.
5. Support safe‑launch activities by reviewing certified part information, identifying potential nonconformances, and requesting corrective actions as needed.
6. Develop standard work templates, forms, and documentation to support quality planning consistency and compliance.
7. Collaborate with supplier quality, quality engineers, engineering, and manufacturing teams to support readiness, documentation accuracy, and quality requirement alignment.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years’ relevant quality or manufacturing engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of GD&T; formal GD&T training completed upon hire.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
- Strong understanding of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), APQP, PPAP, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools including Eight Disciplines (8D), Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA), and the Seven Quality Control Tools (7 QC Tools).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, evaluate data, and support structured problem‑solving using quality engineering tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, suppliers, manufacturing, and cross‑functional partners.
Travel:
- Occasional travel is expected of this position.
Work Location
