This position supports Show Technology and Water Features systems across the resort. The role focuses on backend mechanical and show equipment with exposure to controls, automation, and networked systems. The engineer performs hands on maintenance and troubleshooting while working closely with Engineer I staff on complex systems.
Responsibilities
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on show technology equipment, games, audio visual systems, and background music systems
• Support operation and maintenance of water feature pumps, mechanical equipment, filtration components, and associated systems
• Perform first level diagnostics on motors, pumps, valves, starters, seals, gauges, and rotating equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical controls and relays using established procedures
• Support pneumatic systems including valves, actuators, and basic sequencing
• Assist with control systems and PLC related troubleshooting, including reading logic flow and sequencing
• Review and interpret basic programming logic to support troubleshooting and verification activities
• Perform IP checks, pings, and basic connectivity validation to support communication between networked equipment
• Work under Engineer I guidance for complex issues involving show systems, controls, automation, or integrated equipment
• Read and follow electrical, mechanical, plumbing prints, logic diagrams, and technical manuals
• Install, replace, and service filtration system elements including gaskets, valves, gauges, and related components
• Document maintenance and repair work accurately and maintain engineering logs
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests in rooms and public areas
• Support emergency response actions and stabilize conditions until additional support arrives
• Assist with equipment installation, relocation, and system adjustments as directed
• Support vendor and contractor work when assigned
• Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in a clean and organized condition
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and Disney policies
• Work professionally and cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers
Basic Qualifications
• 2 to 3 years of related technical experience in mechanical, electrical, controls, show systems, or water feature environments
• Ability to read logic-based programs and structured control sequences
• Understanding of pneumatic operation and control concepts
• Familiarity with controls and PLC fundamentals
• Mechanical aptitude with pumps, motors, and water feature equipment
• Basic computer and networking knowledge related to equipment connectivity
• Strong professional communication and guest service skills
• Ability to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Education
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent.
- OSHA 10/30 (preferred)
- First Aid/CPR (preferred)
- Electrical or plumbing trade certifications are beneficial.
Compensation Details
The pay rate for this role in Hawaii is $39.69 per hour. Additional Information
Full Time - Full availability is required seven (7) days per week, including early mornings, late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
