Position Overview:

The Engineer plays a critical role in supporting daily operations by managing and prioritizing work orders, ensuring accuracy in job specifications, and maintaining production efficiency. This position involves reviewing and processing sales and job orders, verifying technical specifications, preparing approval drawings, preparing manufacturing drawings, and assisting production personnel with technical guidance. Working at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing, the engineer ensures that all products meet internal quality standards and customer specifications. The role demands strong technical and mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, and proficiency with software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDM, and Made2Manage. The engineer regularly collaborates with sales, design, and shop floor teams to resolve issues, support order flow, and drive continuous improvement. Candidates must be detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties: (Additional duties may be assigned as required.)

• Prioritize work assignments/orders based on production schedules, material availability, or anticipated delays in the production queue.

• Interpret sales orders with given data to ensure compliance with company standards.

• Enter and tracks bill of materials (BOM) changes based on previous day's shipments.

• Process job orders for the shop floor, including premium, special, and standard orders.

• Measure cylinders from distributors or customers for new builds or to validate specifications.

• Create approval drawings as required or requested by the customer or sales department.

• Assist shop personnel with job-related questions, print interpretation, and other technical needs.

• Provide technical support for non-conforming products and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Create manufacturing drawings for the shop flow.

• Create manufacturing routers.

• Participate in the development or improvement of cylinder designs to enhance performance, cost-efficiency, or manufacturability.

• Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to identify and implement process improvements.

• Assist with the creation and maintenance of standardized work instructions and process documentation.

• Evaluate and recommend new tools, equipment, or technologies to improve production capabilities.

• Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting as needed.

• Ensure all engineering documentation complies with internal and customer quality standards.

• Support internal audits and participates in activities related to ISO and other quality management systems.

• Collaborate with production teams to resolve real-time manufacturing issues and improve workflow.

• Supports customer service and sales teams with technical guidance on custom or complex orders.

• Participates in training and onboarding for production staff regarding new processes or design updates.

• Identifies and supports continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.

• Participates in safety reviews and contributes to risk mitigation efforts on the production floor.

• Ensure proper documentation of product changes and job order modifications for traceability and accuracy.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel, Internet Explorer, Made2Manage, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Outlook.

Education/Experience:

Four years technical degree from an accredited University or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training:

Vocational school training in a related field

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
