Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, overtime as needed

Pay Rate: $22.00 – $29.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Position Summary:

Seeking a Manual Engine Lathe Machinist with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on machining experience. This role focuses on precision machining of hydraulic cylinder components while supporting cross-training opportunities in cylinder teardown, repair, and reassembly. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in precision work, and thrives in a collaborative, quality-driven production setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate Kingston engine lathes and Magna vertical/horizontal mills to produce high-precision parts.
  • Machine rods, pistons, cylinder bottoms, and related components to tight tolerances.
  • Perform threading (ID/OD), turning, facing, boring, drilling, and other manual machining operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to meet part specifications.
  • Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools (digital and analog).
  • Perform basic tack welding on cylinder bottoms prior to welding department processing.
  • Conduct daily maintenance on assigned machines and equipment.
  • Cross-training offered in hydraulic cylinder repair, including: disassembly, cleaning, and inspection of parts, testing hydraulic systems for performance and leaks, machining or reconditioning parts to restore original tolerances.
  • Supporting reassembly and pressure testing operations.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation using an iPad for digital work order management.
  • Support company production goals by communicating effectively and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with set up on **manual engine lathes **in a machining or manufacturing environment required.-

    Ability to thread with a manual lathe and bail out. 
    
    • Holding tolerance to .005 with using calipers to get true center and also micrometers. 
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and part prints.

  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

  • Dependable and punctual — able to maintain steady production output and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hydraulic cylinder repair preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with boring, milling, grinding, and welding operations.
  • Technical or vocational training in machining or mechanical trades.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn additional shop processes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and precision hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and handle parts and tools safely throughout the shift.
