Job Description

Join BAE Systems’ Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions (CEMA) business area and contribute to the development of cutting-edge Software Defined Radio (SDR) capabilities for the Compass Call program, a vital electronic warfare platform. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of high-performance software that controls and processes RF signals, enabling critical mission capabilities. This is an opportunity to work on a challenging and impactful program in a collaborative, Agile environment, leveraging modern software development practices and tools.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and test software for controlling and processing signals.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for modulation, demodulation, signal analysis, and jamming techniques.
  • Integrate software components with hardware platforms, ensuring seamless operation and optimal performance.
  • Participate in code reviews, contributing to high code quality and adherence to coding standards.
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and test engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development processes and tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, ensuring system reliability and stability.

Typical Education and Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in software development.
  • Proficient in C/C++ and Git.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman).
  • Experience developing software within an Agile team.
  • Experience with Linux software development.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience integrating software in a lab setting with lab equipment.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDRs).
  • Experience with Kernel and Driver Development.
  • Experience with Electronic Warfare (EW) software.
  • Experience with software automated test development and execution.
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
