BAE Systems Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) business area is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to drive quality assurance and compliance for our Sustainment program, ensuring all factory repairs and product returns meet the highest standards of operational excellence.

The Role: Program Quality & Compliance Factory Support
In this role, you will serve as a key contributor focused on the quality and compliance of the TACAIR Sustainment program. You will be the primary program authority for factory-level quality support, managing the end-to-end process for repairs and the resolution of non-conformances. You will ensure that all sustainment activities align with customer requirements and government mandates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Factory Repair Support: Provide direct quality oversight for the repair of hardware and field return units. Ensure all repair processes are documented, validated, and compliant with technical specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Non-Conformance Management: Lead the identification, documentation, and resolution of non-conformances. Serve as a core member of the Material Review Board (MRB) to evaluate deviations and drive final dispositions.
  • Regulatory & Customer Interface: Act as a primary point of contact for the Defense Contracts Management Agency (DCMA) and customers during quality audits, program inquiries, and final product acceptance ("Sell-off").
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to optimize factory repair workflows, reduce non-conformance rates, and improve overall program efficiency and Turn around Times (TAT).
  • Contract Review & Compliance: Perform Contract Reviews to identify specific customer quality requirements and deliverables; translate contractual obligations into actionable quality plans and inspection criteria to ensure 100% compliance with all repairs.
Technical Competencies & Industry Standards
  • Aerospace Standards: Application of AS9100 (Quality Management Systems), AS9102 (First Article Inspection/FAI), and AS9145 (Advanced Product Quality Planning/APQP).
  • Corrective Action: Execution of Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) to resolve systemic factory and product issues.
  • Configuration Management: Managing Configuration Control and Hardware Configuration Reporting to ensure baseline integrity during the repair process.
  • Quality Tools: Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause Analysis, and Lean Manufacturing.
Work Environment
This position requires 100% on-site presence at a BAE Systems facility to provide direct factory support.

Typical Education and Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-4+ years of experience OR 6-8+ years of relevant Quality Engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Prior history of quality assurance or engineering experience within a production, sustainment, repair, or lifecycle support program.
  • Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Skills and Education

Preferred Skills & Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or technical field
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand complex engineering drawings, prints, and military specifications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with U.S. Government representatives and multi-functional organizational stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in program quality functions and produce high-quality work with minimal oversight as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience in Defense Contracting and the repair or manufacturing of complex electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with external quality audits and managing customer requirements flow-down.
