Job Overview:

This position is responsible for the design and documentation of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic products and systems.  The incumbent will focus on designing systems that are efficient, cost-effective, and meet all Company guidelines and schedules.  The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for exercising independent judgment in the best practice for the industry while synthesizing internal customer desires, corporate practices, and department objectives while striving to meet customer demands.  Strong mechanical design skills, and the ability to translate customer requirements into finished designs.  Solid communications skills and a strong orientation for technical data. Computer literacy, and competency in the use of all common office and engineering software programs and aptitude for learning specialized software programs and proficiency in ERP needed. Strong interaction skills including phone etiquette, customer/vendor interaction and interviewing of others to glean thorough understanding. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on processes and specifications. Sufficient detail orientation to support accuracy in all scope of work.

Position Requirements:

Job Duties:

  1. Evaluates mechanical, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic systems and products by designing and conducting research programs, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and strength of materials.
  2. Develops products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators, production personnel, and other internal customers.
  3. Adhere to and hold others to the highest standard of the 5 Core Values of Pride, Accountability, Safety, Teamwork and Excellence in an ethical and motivating approach
  4. Demonstrate proficiency with SolidWorks modeling as needed
  5. Translate design data into accurate and complete ERP data
  6. Knowledge and/or ability to programming with Danfoss Plus1 or Parker IQan
  7. Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests
  8. Travels to customer sites as required to observe operations, investigate failures, or sell products; capable of traveling within the US and, on occasion, outside the US; willing to travel to customer sites including surface and underground mines
  9. Always maintains an appropriate and professional demeanor, particularly during customer-facing interactions
  10. Responsible for professional, clear, concise, and timely communications to all stakeholders and holding self consistently to the highest standard of interaction
  11. Maintain a positive, respectful work interaction within the internal and external environment including with vendors as appropriate
  12. Comply with Company health, housekeeping, safety, regulatory agency and environmental policies
  13. Effective and efficient management of time
