BAE Systems is seeking a Product Test Engineer for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) Business location in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Trusted in the industry, CAS develops, manufactures, and services highly reliable, adaptable, and scalable avionics solutions for the leading manufacturers of commercial aircraft and their propulsion systems. As a member of BAE Systems’ team, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on with complex electronic controls and solve challenging technical problems that both enhance our products performance and matter to our customers.
In this Product Test Engineer role, the qualified candidate will be the engineering support interface for our electronic controls products within the Fort Wayne factory. Responsibilities include:
Defining, integrating, and maintaining hardware test requirements and test performance
Initiating continuous improvement of our electronic controls as a response to acceptance test yields and delivered quality metrics
Providing on-site design engineering guidance and product support manufacturing and customers (e.g. product investigations/root cause analysis, product performance assessments, and component/circuit level troubleshooting and diagnostics)
Liaising with Design Engineering in Endicott, New York and customers on design changes
Performance in the role requires frequent engagement with Programs, Operations, and our customer to support product performance, quality, reliability, and delivery issues.
This role involves a combination of hands-on product/test equipment engagement, collaborative teaming, and independent work. Therefore, a hybrid work format is allowed for flexibility with 3-4 days required to be on-site per week in the Fort Wayne, IN manufacturing facility. Some light travel may be required (<10%).

Required Skills and Education
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Electronics component level troubleshooting (analog, digital, power, communications)
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and critical thinking
- Ability to interpret and implement requirements specifications
- General understanding of electronics manufacturing process
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to grow / mentor others
Preferred Skills and Education
- Familiarity with the manufacturing and test of high reliability electronic assemblies and their avionics applications
- Experience using complex analytical tools and methods (SPC, 6 Sigma, etc.)
- Experience working in a high-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience using advanced test and analysis instrumentation (spectrum, bus, and logic analyzers, etc.)
- Experience programming in various software environments (Basic, UNIX, C++, NI LabVIEW, NI Test Stand, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple activities in a team environment
