We're driven by a mission to protect those who protect us and we're looking for a skilled Principal Electrical Supplier Quality Engineer to help us deliver on that promise.

Your work as a Principal Electrical Supplier Quality Engineer (Prin. SQE) will be critical to ensuring the reliability and performance of our products, so we are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a passion for quality and supplier management to join our Supply Chain team at our BAE Systems, York, Pennsylvania site. As a Prin. SQE, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of our suppliers' products by leading investigations, evaluations, and resolving supplier quality nonconformances guiding them toward lasting improvements. Additionally, you will have frequent collaboration with Supplier Quality Assurance, Receiving Inspection, Procurement, Engineering, Program Quality and our external customer. The primary focus of this Prin. SQE will be on Electrical Harnesses, Assemblies and Electronics while mentoring junior SQE’s to further their development within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead supplier quality investigations, evaluations, and resolutions, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate submission of quality documentation, enforce purchase order requirements, and drive supplier performance improvements.
  • Evaluate the impact of nonconforming product and assess suppliers’ corrective actions.
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Drive supplier quality and performance improvements through data-driven insights and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Ensure program success by coordinating quality activities across multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Execute containment and inventory management activities to prevent defects and ensure product reliability.
  • Evaluate First Article Inspections per the AS9102 requirements and work with suppliers to meet BAE System's requirements.
  • Evaluate First Article Test plans and reports for execution and approval.
  • Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base and A3 problem solving tool practices.

Required Skills and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field of study and six years related work experience, or the overall equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with the manufacturing process of Electronics, Electrical Assemblies and/or Cable Assemblies.
  • Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation generation.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical drawing interpretation and electrical schematic understanding.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
  • Experience with quality gauges and measuring tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/ Preventative Actions.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Systems and AS9102 First Article Requirements or comparable industry standards.
  • “Zero Defect” mentality & practical problem-solving tool knowledge.
  • Computer skills to include MS Office Suite and related industry software applications.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in Defense Prime Contract environment.
  • Experience with product line validation, test plans, test equipment and product qualification.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with IPC-A-610, IPC-J-620, J-STD-001.
  • Specific experience with electrical assemblies for the Defense Industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools (e.g. Green / Black Belt).
