Job Overview:

Job Description

Perform the engineering required to establish the basis for independent technical evaluations of electrical and component designs, including failure modes analyses, reliability predictions, limited life analyses (LLA), fault tree analyses (FTA), probabilistic risk assessments, and electrical failure analyses. These analyses ensure that the design has sufficient performance margins, failure-recovery capabilities, resiliency, and high pedigree upon test-completion, such that mission success is achieved.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be personally mentored and trained one-on-one, by two reliability, availability, maintainability, and supportability (RAMS) engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with a combined 50+ years of industry experience.
  • Learn from and support senior RAMS engineers in developing system level reliability analyses and reviews.
  • Help gather, organize, and preliminarily assess reliability reports from internal and external suppliers in areas such as:
    • Electrical Failure Analysis
    • Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMEA/FMECA)
    • Worst Case Circuit Analysis
    • Reliability Predictions
    • Limited Life Analysis (LLA)
    • Fault‑Tree Analysis (FTA) and/or Probabilistic Risk Assessment
    • Stress Analysis
  • Perform basic electrical circuit analysis classically and/or using SPICE.
  • Investigate failures in electrical circuits.
  • Learn to identify reliability drivers and early‑design risks, applying guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Translate written requirements from internal and external sources into simple, straight-forward requirements with mentor support.
  • Support the creation of accurate electrical reliability component parameter variation models for entry into a database.
  • Participate as member of design team to select, evaluate, and document electronic, electrical, mechanical, and optical parts for various missions including space, military and airborne.
  • Possess the willingness to assist other reliability engineers in completing their tasks.
  • Draft concise technical reports and summaries, documenting analysis and results; senior staff will review and provide feedback.
  • Utilize mathematical software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Excel) under supervision to support analysis work.
  • Take ownership of self‑directed learning—quickly acquire new techniques, software, and domain knowledge without constant supervision.
  • Develop presentation skills by supporting the delivery of reliability results at design reviews, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Participate in meetings with Program Managers (PMs), Mission Assurance Managers (MAMs), and customers, capturing action items and supporting follow‑up.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, sharing ideas and progress openly.
  • Use presentation skills to convey design risks at program meetings and milestone reviews.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
#LI-MT1

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Typical Education and Experience

Typically a High School Diploma and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience
