The Communications and Sensing Technology team is seeking an Embedded Firmware Design Engineer - RF Systems (Mid-Level, Lead or Senior) to support communication and RF sensor designs based in Tukwila, WA. The ideal candidate should be able to develop digital communication and signal processing algorithms and implement them into programmable hardware logic and experience writing appropriate sections of proposals to support development of new business.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and validates requirements for various complex communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components.

  • Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.

  • Develops architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.

  • Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.

  • Defines and conducts critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements.

  • Manages appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.

  • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues.

  • Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews.

  • Works under minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

  • Experience in modern FPGA design processes (design, implementation, simulation, timing closure and validation)

  • Knowledgeable in core digital communications and signal processing theory

  • Design experience with Ethernet and serial interfaces

  • Proficient in configuration management (Git)

  • Familiarity with Linux

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of basic sampling theory, complex baseband representation, poly-phase filter design, error correction codes, synchronization, equalization, and modulation

  • Proficient in modeling and simulation tools (Matlab / Simulink along with relevant toolboxes)

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers

  • Experience generating major sections of proposals to support development of new business and pursuing CRAD contracts

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $104,550 – $141,450

Summary pay range for Lead Level: $126,650 – $171,350

Summary pay range for Senior Level: $155,550 – $210,450
