Electronics Technician - Automation

Summary

The purpose of the Automation Electronic Technician position is to develop and build new automated equipment, with the emphasis on the electronic motion control, instrumentation and programming. They also improve current automation process capability, efficiency, and overall productivity in all areas of manufacturing on new and existing products.

Essential Functions

This position is responsible for development and troubleshooting of automated equipment. Electrical wiring from engineering drawings and layout of electrical/electronic control panels. Support modification and system improvement project/activities of the Automation department.

Understanding and ability to apply electrical and electronic principles, standards and workmanship.

Layout, wire, assemble, document (wiring diagrams), and troubleshoot electrical control systems used in automated machinery.

Mechanical assembly of actuators, motors, spindles, and other mechanisms.

Actively participate in the High-Performance Team designated for your area. Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Daily attendance is a requirement of the job, as is arriving on time. Overtime is expected when customer demand dictates the need. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and/or 3 to 5 years of related electrical/electronic, control panel wiring/troubleshooting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Have a working understanding of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, motion control and electrical troubleshooting

Working knowledge of PLC’s and pneumatics

Programming Abilities (C++, php, python, etc.) a plus

Mechanical aptitude for diagnosis, repair, fabrication, and assembly of automated equipment

3D CAD Modeling experience a plus

Proficient at using a Windows based PC, using email, the internet etc.

Ability to communicate well with floor equipment operators, maintenance personnel, as well as engineers
