PrideStaff San Diego is recruiting an experienced electronics repair technician for a manufacturer of industrial and embedded electronic systems.
This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting returned equipment, identifying faulty modules or subassemblies, completing repairs, and testing equipment before release. We are looking for someone who can explain what failed, how they isolated the problem, and how they confirmed the repair worked.
Relevant backgrounds include industrial electronics, avionics, medical equipment, and other complex electronic equipment.
Responsibilities
• Review customer-reported problems, repair history, and equipment condition.
• Reproduce failures using manual test equipment and proprietary automated testers.
• Use schematics, diagrams, fault trees, and approved procedures to isolate faults.
• Disassemble equipment, replace faulty modules or subassemblies, and reassemble products using ESD controls.
• Perform required inspections and functional, electrical, and final acceptance tests.
• Document symptoms, test results, parts replaced, serial and revision information, and final repair results.
• Escalate intermittent failures, recurring problems, and component-level questions to Engineering or product support.
• Work with Engineering, Quality, production, and other technicians to meet repair and quality expectations.
Required
• Five or more years of hands-on troubleshooting, testing, repair, or maintenance of electronic systems or complex technical equipment.
• Experience personally diagnosing faults, rather than only assembling products or running pass/fail tests.
• Practical experience using electronic test equipment and interpreting results.
• Ability to follow technical documentation and explain a logical troubleshooting process.
• Careful workmanship, clear repair records, and experience following controlled procedures.
Helpful experience
• Repair depot, RMA, or electronic equipment service work.
• Industrial electronics, avionics, medical devices, or modular computing equipment.
• Aerospace, defense, medical device, ISO, or FAA quality environments.
• Electronic repair tracking or ERP systems.
• Training or mentoring other technicians.
