Position Summary

The electronics engineering technician partners with the manufacturing teams and multiple engineering disciplines across the organization in all areas of mechanical and electrical/electronic design.

This position reports to the Electrical Integration Manager of the Functional Test group and is classified as non-exempt according the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act).

What You’ll Be Doing

The electronics engineering technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. The position applies knowledge of electrical/electronics and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. The electronics technician provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing as well as field service duties.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements
  • Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed
  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting
  • Maintain TSE Lab Environment
  • Assists and trains other maintenance and other technical-level employees
  • Manages, creates, and perform parts entry into IFS ERP system
  • Configures and modifies CCITest sequences
  • Provides field support at the customer site for test system installation as well as repairs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • An Associate’s degree in electronics or related field is required with a minimum of 6 years of work experience in electronics performing similar functions.
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
  • Solid analytical skills; able to resolve complex technical problems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (blueprints and schematics) and specifications
  • Requires a strong initiative, proactive nature and a sense of urgency
  • Must be able to work in a changing, fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of confidentiality and security of intellectual property (ITAR, Prototype)

This position requires simple and firm grasping and fine manipulating of the hands to assemble, operate tooling and testing equipment 

  • Regular exposure to manufacturing areas which may entail exposure to dirt, dust, noise, machine chemicals, fumes, and other attributes common to this environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Majority of time is spent in usual office working conditions

  • Ability to sit for extended lengths of time is required; bend, reach, stoop and twist as required
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration; risk of electrical shock.

The wage range is $26 to $35 per hour. The hiring manager will determine the final starting wage (within the range above) based on the successful applicant’s qualifications.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without needing sponsorship for an employment visa (e.g., H1B status).

Compensation includes hourly base rate and performance-based quarterly profit sharing. Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, employer paid term life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and retirement program with employer match. Paid leave includes paid time off and holiday pay.
