Job Overview:

Job Summary:
 The Electronics Assembly / SMT Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes to support high-quality and efficient PCB assembly. This role requires deep expertise in SMT process development, reflow profiling, placement programming, and adherence to IPC standards. The ideal candidate will also provide technical leadership and training support across the production floor. This role will require perform SMT production and assistance on backend processing as needed. This position will report to DEAL CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize Surface Mount Process for PCB assembly
  • Create and maintain reflow profiles to ensure reliable soldering and product quality
  • Perform placement programming, with hands-on experience in Yamaha SMT equipment preferred
  • Operating SMT line
  • Support and mentor process technicians on SMT line operations and troubleshooting
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for SMT-related defects
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, reduce defects, and improve throughput
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) including process setup, validation, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001
  • Maintain process documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and control plans
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and production

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience as an Electronics Assembly Process Engineer or SMT Process Engineer
  • IPC-A-610 Certified and J-STD-001 Certified (required)
  • Strong knowledge of SMT processes including stencil printing, placement, and reflow soldering
  • Hands-on experience with reflow profile development and process optimization
  • Experience in placement programming and SMT machine setup
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) certification
  • Experience with Yamaha SMT equipment and programming tools
  • Knowledge of SPI, AOI, and X-ray inspection systems
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
