POSITION SUMMARY:
This role plays a vital part in supporting our U.S. Warfighters and the AbilityOne program by advancing ReadyOne Industries’ mission through engineering innovation. The Electromechanical Engineer develops, implements, and optimizes automated and mechanical systems that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency across our manufacturing operations. This position contributes to initiatives that promote inclusion, operational excellence, and continuous improvement, ensuring that our production processes align with both industry standards and ReadyOne’s commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and maintain electromechanical systems, machinery, and automation equipment to improve production performance and reliability.
- Support installation, calibration, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems used in manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions involving electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and maintenance teams to improve equipment efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production equipment.
- Perform electrical and mechanical diagnostics using appropriate tools and testing devices (multimeters, oscilloscopes, PLC interfaces, etc.).
- Design and implement control systems, including PLC programming and integration with sensors, actuators, and HMIs.
- Maintain and update electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
- Lead equipment upgrades, retrofits, and automation improvement projects to increase productivity and reduce labor costs.
- Assist in the selection, sourcing, and installation of new machines, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize electromechanical processes and ensure high reliability of equipment.
- Support ergonomic and safety assessments related to automated and mechanical systems. Evaluate the best ergonomic machine setup in order to utilize disabled workers.
- Participate in design reviews for new or modified production lines, providing technical input on electrical and mechanical integration.
- Prepare and maintain technical reports, maintenance records, and cost analyses related to electromechanical systems.
- Provide technical training to operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable electrical and mechanical safety standards.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors for installation, testing, and commissioning of new systems or components.
- Support manufacturing engineers in developing jigs, fixtures, and custom tools that improve process flow and machine efficiency.
- Participate in energy-saving projects through system analysis and implementation of efficiency improvements.
- Perform other duties and technical responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.
Qualifications
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, electromechanical systems, or automation.
- Experience in industrial sewing machinery, automation systems, or manufacturing processes is a plus.
Specific Skills:
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Familiarity with mechanical design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panels.
- Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, and motion control systems.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and continuous improvement techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
English proficiency required/ Spanish proficiency is helpful. Electromechanical Engineer skills and knowledge related to apparel or sewn products manufacturing.
Other Skills and Abilities: Effective oral and written communication skills required. Ability to use general office equipment (i.e. facsimile, photocopy, and/or related office peripherals). Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Physical Demands: Frequently sits, bends, kneels, and reaches out with hands/arms. Must be able to lift/move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
