Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd Shift
Location: Avon, CT (Direct Hire)
Shift: 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)
Pay: $37.00 – $45.00/hour + $2.00 shift differential
Screening: Drug test and background check required
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join a growing manufacturing facility on 2nd shift. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production machinery and facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience working with high-voltage systems, and the ability to effectively support production teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical (including high voltage), hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as gas and UV control systems
- Diagnose issues, determine root causes, and implement effective repairs
- Perform maintenance on automated machinery and PLC systems
- Proactively identify potential equipment failures and communicate risks
- Support production changeovers and line adjustments
- Fabricate parts and brackets using mills, lathes, and welding equipment
- Utilize hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Record detailed repair notes, root causes, and corrective actions
- Track parts usage, labor time, and job status updates
- Maintain accurate equipment history and maintenance records
- Submit purchase requests for replacement parts and materials
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and SOPs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Report hazards and support ongoing safety improvement efforts
- Properly handle regulated and hazardous materials
- Participate in required safety and technical training
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, and use of tools
- Exposure to active manufacturing environments, electrical systems, chemicals, and elevated work areas
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Overtime may be required based on production demands
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical or vocational training in maintenance or a related field preferred
Experience
- 3–5 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
- Hands-on experience working with high-voltage electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams
- Experience with machine controls and automation systems is a plus
- Comfortable using computers for maintenance documentation
