We are seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician II to join a manufacturing team producing precision mechanical and electronic equipment. This hands-on role combines mechanical assembly, electronics assembly, cable and wire harness fabrication, soldering, and basic electrical testing.
The ideal candidate has experience working with mechanical components and electronic assemblies, can interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. The ability to work independently, troubleshoot basic assembly issues, and follow established quality standards is essential.
Mechanical Assembly
- Assemble mechanical subassemblies and complete units using technical drawings, assembly procedures, and work instructions.
Work with gears, gearboxes, motors, metal housings, pumps, O-rings, fasteners, and other mechanical components.
Use hand tools, power tools, adhesives, and other assembly equipment according to specifications.
Build standard and non-standard assemblies while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
Electronics, Soldering & Cable Assembly
Perform precision hand soldering of through-hole components and, when qualified, surface-mount components on printed circuit boards (PCBs).
Fabricate cable assemblies and wire harnesses, including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and connector installation.
Assemble electrical connections and electronic components according to wiring diagrams and assembly instructions.
Follow applicable soldering workmanship requirements, including IPC J-STD-001 standards.
Testing, Inspection & Troubleshooting
Perform in-process inspections of mechanical assemblies, solder joints, electrical connections, and completed units.
Conduct basic electrical tests using multimeters, continuity testers, power supplies, and established test equipment.
Record test results, identify units that do not meet specifications, and report quality concerns.
Troubleshoot basic assembly and electrical issues by reviewing drawings, taking measurements, and inspecting components.
Perform minor rework when appropriate and escalate more complex issues to the appropriate supervisor or engineering personnel.
Quality, Documentation & Safety
Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
Follow established quality standards, ESD handling procedures, and safe work practices.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities.
Assist with updating assembly procedures and work instructions as needed.
Support training of newer technicians on basic assembly and testing procedures when qualified.
Meet production schedules and work overtime as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Approximately 2–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, electronics assembly, or a related manufacturing environment.
Experience assembling mechanical components, subassemblies, or finished products.
Hands-on experience with cable assemblies, wire harnesses, electrical connectors, or PCB soldering.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, soldering stations, crimping tools, wire strippers, and basic electrical test equipment.
Ability to use multimeters and continuity testers for basic electrical testing.
Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and meet production goals.
Experience with both mechanical and electronic assembly.
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and/or IPC J-STD-001 standards.
IPC J-STD-001 certification or willingness to complete applicable training.
Experience with surface-mount component rework.
Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing or production environments.
Familiarity with industrial control systems, electro-mechanical equipment, or precision assemblies.
Experience with basic troubleshooting, inspection, and test documentation.
We are looking for a dependable, hands-on technician who enjoys building precision products and takes ownership of quality. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in mechanical or electronics assembly, with the versatility to work across both disciplines. This position focuses on accurate assembly, testing, and troubleshooting rather than electrical engineering or circuit design.
