Job Description:

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Electro-Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the mechanical and electrical assembly of Machine Solutions products and equipment which requires preparation, sub-assembly and construction of company produced electromechanical equipment. This is not a remote position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and work orders to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.
  • Assembles sections of machines to customer specifications; attaches unit to assembly, subassembly or frames using various hand and power tools.
  • Performs mechanical assembly operations to exacting tolerances; positions and aligns parts using fixtures, jigs and templates; works with rotating shafts, gear trains, mechanical structures, and sprockets.
  • Drills, taps, reams, countersinks, files, laps and buff parts to fit; cleans and lubricates parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Utilizes measuring instruments to level and align work, detects and eliminates run-out, works to close tolerances with a demand for square, concentricity and parallelism.
  • Assembles electrical or electronic systems or support structures and installs components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings using rivets, bolts, and soldering equipment.
  • Labels, wires and connects switch boxes and control panel terminal boards from basic wiring diagrams. Performs visual checks of labeling and terminations.
  • Detects defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and reports to supervisor describing in accurate detail to ensure proper corrective actions.
  • Completes necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
  • Actively participates in team meetings; communicates and helps resolve any cost, quality, or production issues.
  • Regularly and effectively communicate and interact with other team members
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area in accordance with established safety procedures and best practices.
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in wiring, cable routing, and soldering techniques, with the ability to work on more intricate electrical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret moderately complex assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in using a broader range of power tools, crimping tools, torque wrenches, and specialized assembly equipment for more precise work.
  • Increased ability to assemble, align, and adjust small mechanical and electrical components with accuracy.
  • Ability to handle heavier components, stand for long periods, and efficiently work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to identify common assembly errors and implement basic corrective actions with guidance from senior assemblers or supervisors.

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Any combination of education, training or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands for this role include standing for extended periods, frequent walking, and performing repetitive motions such as bending, lifting, and reaching. There may be times that involve prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and engaging in repetitive hand movements for tasks like typing or writing. Employees must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier items with assistance. The role may involve operating machinery, using hand tools, and maintaining precise hand-eye coordination. Good hearing and manual dexterity are essential for safely performing tasks and ensuring product quality. To effectively complete the tasks in this position, the vision requirements needed are the ability to adjust focus and identify and distinguish colors.

The work environment for this role is in a manufacturing facility with machinery, tools, and materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Noise levels can be high, and tasks may involve lifting or moving parts. Minimal time will be spent in wet or humid conditions, and near caustic or toxic chemicals.
