Basic Function:

The purpose of this position is to layout and wire all electrical assemblies to schematic specifications. Will receive, store and issue instrumentation material and identify material for work in process work centers; make additions/repairs/modifications to instrumentation, burners, and control panels; and build control panels from panel layout and electrical drawings.

Essential Duties:

  • Must know how to set transmitters and know flow of pressure switches.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow all safety rules; lifts up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to operate an overhead crane, forklift and scissor lift.
  • Must have the ability to work in confined space and work up to 18’ heights as required.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints and process sheets accurately.
  • Must know, understand, and abide by 5S housekeeping procedures and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Must understand and use IFS time keeping system to clock on/off jobs correctly & accurately.
  • Must have the full competence in meeting safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics and follow various work instructions.
  • Layout and wire electrical assemblies in accordance with schematic requirements.
  • Proficient using various hand tools including drills.
  • Must be able to use a multimeter with clear understanding Ohms, Amps, and Volts.
  • Proficient in the use of multimeter and other electrical testing equipment used in the testing and troubleshooting of circuits.
  • Clear understanding of electric/electronic components: PLC’s Transformers, capacitors, Relays, and others as required.
  • Knowledge of logic in circuitry, the workings of electrical components and their function within a circuit.
  • Must be able to build from scratch, control panels for boilers from schematics with minima
  • May be required to assist in wiring of boilers.
  • Examines stock to verify visual conformance to job specifications.
  • Responsible for receiving and unpacking instrumentation materials and supplies and moving them to proper storage area(s).
  • Aids in inventory and cycle counting activities as required.
  • Pulls materials with pick lists from IFS for packing for shipment to customers.
  • Repairs damage to gauges, valves, switches.
  • Able to access/interpret the electronic files saved in the job folder to verify instrumentation data using basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work well with fellow employees including active participation in employee involvement activities and problem solving.
  • Perform any other job duties as directed by a Supervisor or Team Leader.

Hours of Work:

First shift generally 7:00 AM -11:30 AM and 12:00 PM - 3:30 PM as scheduled by management with overtime as needed. 

Days of Work:

Normally Monday through Friday as scheduled by management. Daily overtime, weekends and holidays if needed by operations and approved by management.   

Education Required: 

High school degree or GED equivalent; two-year degree in electrical or electro-mechanical preferred.

Experience Required:

0 to 4 years’ experience in an assembly manufacturing environment with a focus on electrical / controls preferred; basic computer skills.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:  

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. forty inches high and lift 40 lbs. chest-high on an occasional basis. Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on hard cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat, and climb ladders. Must have the ability to work up to 18’ heights using ladders or scissor lifts and operate forklifts and overhead cranes. Must be able to read tape measure; read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, safety rules, operating/procedure, and maintenance instructions. Must be able to work in temperature ranges corresponding with the outside ambient temperatures, must be able to access all areas of the plant. Will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes and machine lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, hard hats, welding gloves, welding hoods, welding jackets, grinding shields, and fall protection.
