Job Overview:

Role Description:

Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment. 
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with MIOSHA requirements.
  • Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed. 
  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting. 
  • Assists and trains other maintenance and/or other technical level employees.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical diagram’s and understand ladder logic diagram for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Positive working attitude in a high paced environment.
  • Maintain workspace and inventory in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Ability to use Electrical diagrams and ladder logic prints to troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Install Buss bar, Buss plugs, run conduit, and install electrical drops to machinery.
  • Work with mechanical team when needed to keep the plant running efficiently.

The noise level in the working environment will be heavy with high traffic. Ear protection will be required.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:

Education:   

  • High School Diploma or GED
  •  Journeyman status through an accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is required.

 

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.

 

Certifications:

  • Journeyman

 

Additional Skills Required:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following skills are required:

 

Computer skills:

  • Computer experience/operation and PLC programming helpful. 

 

Communication skills:

  • Speak effectively with fellow employees.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Mathematical skills:

  • Apply mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra.

 

Other Skills:

  • Detail oriented.
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and ladder logic prints. Make changes to prints if changes are made.
