The Facilities Planning and Management Department at Iowa State University is hiring an Electrician Trainee for Utilities Services. The Trainee will be enrolled in a 4 year Apprenticeship Program which will include on-the-job training and class room education through ABC of Iowa. At the end of the program, the Trainee will be prepared to test to become a Journeyman Electrician. The successful candidate will be motivated and committed individuals with a strong desire to learn and work as part of a team.
Trainees will begin employment with Iowa State University and receive hands-on, on-the-job training. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
As part of the apprenticeship program, trainees must also be able to travel to Grimes, Iowa, to attend classroom instruction through ABC of Iowa. This training is conducted on-site in Grimes and is a required component of the apprenticeship with Iowa State University.
The undersigned trainee agrees to attend ABC of Iowa Apprenticeship courses in Grimes, Iowa, completing the required levels of attendance. This includes in-class work and testing as well as web-based work and testing that is needed to pass each individual level (Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4). Costs associated with the training are paid by Iowa State University. The trainee will sign an Apprenticeship Fees reimbursement Agreement as part of the hiring process.
Under direct supervision, receives work experience and related training instruction to develop the knowledge and skill necessary to perform at the journey level upon completion of the training program to install and repair electrical systems and equipment. Participates in training that is required to progress to eligibility for the Electrician I classification.
