Job Overview:

Core electrical skills • Running EMT conduit (straight runs, offsets, 3-point saddles, box offsets) • Pulling wire for branch circuits (lighting, receptacles, small equipment) • Installing and terminating devices (switches, duplex outlets, GFCIs, data rough-in boxes) • Basic panel work (landing branch circuits cleanly, labeling, torquing to spec under supervision) • Reading and working from blueprints, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), and electrical schedules • Understanding circuiting and load basics (keeping neutrals/hots/grounds correct, avoiding shared neutral mistakes unless designed) • Roughing in for new walls, relocated offices, conference rooms, retail layouts • Coordinating around HVAC, low-voltage, fire alarm, and plumbing trades• Ceiling grid work familiarity (above-grid layout, fixture placement, J-box support, hanger wire rules) • LED panels, troffers, downlights • Switching systems (standard, occupancy sensors, occasionally relay-based systems) • Basic familiarity with energy code requirements (occupancy sensors, daylighting controls, etc.) Field independence & productivity• Lay out work from plans with minimal supervision • Keep production moving without constant instruction • Anticipate material needs (basic ordering awareness or picking up missing parts) • Work efficiently with minimal rework • Maintain clean, code-compliant installs without constant correction Code & safety awareness They should have working knowledge of:• NEC basics (especially Chapters 2, 3, 4, and 5 relevant to commercial TI) • GFCI/AFCI requirements (where applicable in commercial spaces) • Proper conduit fill and support spacing • Jobsite safety (LOTO basics, ladder safety, PPE, working around live systems) • Panel clearances and working space requirements Low-voltage awareness (common in TI) Some understanding of:• Data/voice rough-in coordination (Cat6 pulls, structured cabling pathways) • Fire alarm device rough-in locations (horn/strobes, p
