Job Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Electrician position is to work with the electrical systems in the plant, with secondary duties pertaining to the installation, troubleshooting and repairing of plant equipment. This position may function as the lead for less experienced personnel in the absence of the Maintenance Lead, or when working certain projects.

Principle Accountabilities:
1. Demonstrates ability to manage scheduled work list while supporting plant needs and utilizing time effectively. When assigned, will work with outside contractors to ensure and inspect work quality meets company standards.
2. Installs electrical wiring and instrumentation systems to support processing equipment. Uses time efficiently while assigned to multiple projects.
3. Troubleshoots diagnoses and corrects electrical problems in the power distribution, electrical equipment, lighting systems, automation, controls, and instrumentation systems.
4. May teach electrical fundamentals to other maintenance personnel.
5. Installs, removes, repairs, overhauls and tests electrical equipment, both alternating and direct current.
6. Performs installation, removal and repair of a wide range of electrical equipment, such as power circuits, lighting systems, switchgear, transformers, starters, controllers, capacitors, production equipment power and control systems, electronic power and control and communication equipment.
7. Diagnoses failures and make necessary repairs to minimizing production down time.
8. Works to meet current electrical codes and company policies and practices. Selects proper equipment size, wire and conduit sizes, breaker switch and fuse sizes.
9. Completes routine paperwork as required, follows lockout/tag out safety procedures, utilizes confined space permits. Utilizes proper rigging techniques.
10. Takes charge in the absence of the Electrical Supervisor and/or Leads.
11. Understand where to find equipment documentation if needed (SOPs, dwgs, etc) and how to contact external tech support as needed during down time scenarios.
12. Safely use hand and power tools in shop.
13. Demonstrate the ability to work from drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions for hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
14. Directs work teams and instructs other personnel as needed.
15. Follow and promote all safety programs and requirements (Hot work policy, confined space, fall protection, proper rigging requirements, lockout/tag out, and all safety programs utilized by Idahoan Foods).
16. Follow and promote good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and all company Food Safety and Food Quality programs, policies and practices.as defined by the Idahoan Foods company policy.
17. Understand basic applications of electrical and controls safety requirements within the maintenance department.
18. Willing to answer and respond to on call plant needs and to coordinate resources as needed to address emergency down time scenarios.
19. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Required Skills of the Position:
Education and/or Experience:
• This position requires two years of trade school and/or five years’ experience in maintenance as an Electrician
• Must have successfully passed the Idaho State Journeyman Electricians exam and have a current Journeyman Electrician License.
• Complete and maintain Idahoan Foods forklift, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
Language Skills:
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone skills, and thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Math Skills:
This position requires quantitative skills and knowledge of math functions such as percentages, decimals, and the ability to chart numerical data appropriately.
Reasoning Ability:
• This position requires a high degree of self-confidence and maturity to make decisions required in day-to-day activities. Must be able to solve problems with minimal direction, be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills. A team player who is flexible, and accepts changing assignments and accountabilities. Should display excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer Skills:
• Essential computer skills using Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and E-mail.
• Also utilize the computerized maintenance management software to generate work orders for issues found on the work floor or get assigned work from Supervisor.
Work Environment:
• This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) standing on concrete floors for extended periods of time, moving parts and loud noise. Must be able to work with sanitizers and cleaning chemicals. Cleans job site and tools. Stores tools and equipment in designated places in an orderly manner. Works on ladders, scaffolds, and forklift cages and in pits using proper safety precautions. Wears personal protective equipment as needed for assigned tasks. Must be able to work various shifts as assigned by Supervisor.
