Electrical Technician

Job Duties Include:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment, including PLCs, control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, and VFD drives/motors
  • Install or modify electrical equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications with minimal instruction after general assignment
  • Use Electrical Ingenuity and Work directly with all mechanics and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to help develop a safety focused and productive atmosphere. Support maintenance teammates to help maintain a positive and efficient work environment focused on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment
  • Quality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem solving skills
  • Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge
  • Reliable team player with good communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed
  • 3 years minimum experience in industrial environment with emphasis going to steel mills. Experience will take in account military experience, university time, apprenticeship or combination of all.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using precision measuring instruments
  • Efficient in the Metric Measuring System a plus
  • Basic computer skills; MS Excel, Word, and Outlook is a plus
  • Read Electrical drawings, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Knowledgeable of programming and troubleshooting logic to include ladder logic, function block programming (Logicad and Step 7)
  • Knowledgeable of VFDs, principle design, programming, and trouble shooting skills; I.O. systems (Beckhoff, Allen Bradley) and design layout; three-phase motors and ability to troubleshoot; network infrastructure; basic mechanical components in a mill; basic Hydraulic systems, how they operate and design layout
  • Willing to learn and take on multiple roles, such as mechanical and production positions as well as continually improve on primary skill set
  • HS diploma or equivalent is required; electrical degree or training is preferred
