Job Overview:

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive technology organization, is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician. This role is responsible for assembling and maintaining electrical test systems, building and installing wire harnesses, and troubleshooting test equipment to support engineering and validation activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on electrical assembly experience and the ability to interpret wiring documentation while working in a fast-paced lab environment.

Job Duties

  • Assemble, modify, and install HIL cabling, rack-mounted equipment, power supplies, and related test hardware
  • Build wire harnesses using crimping, stripping, and soldering techniques
  • Install rack mount shelves and connect harnesses to test equipment
  • Support engineers during setup and commissioning of new HIL test systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical failures within test equipment and cabling
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Track equipment issues, maintenance activities, and inventory to ensure test assets remain operational
  • Maintain an organized laboratory environment, including tool tracking and routine equipment upkeep

Skills & Experience

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or related electrical harness assembly
  • Experience building wire harnesses using crimping, stripping, soldering, and cable assembly techniques
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and test equipment
  • Ability to work independently in an onsite laboratory environment
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Desired

  • Experience supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or similar test environments
  • Experience installing and configuring rack-mounted electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, video, or lighting communication circuits
  • Experience procuring electrical components for prototype harness builds
  • Familiarity with equipment inventory tracking and preventive maintenance processes
  • Experience supporting engineering teams during hardware validation and debugging
