IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Projects Supervisor
TRAVEL: Intermittent / As Required (30% - 50%)
The Electrical Technician III is a senior-level expert responsible for complex electrical diagnostics, control system integration, and advanced retrofit and commissioning work.
· Lead the electrical design and wiring of CNC retrofits — including mills, lathes, and large gantry systems — specifying and integrating electrical panels, servos, and drive systems to OEM or improved standards
· Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, control, and servo/drive faults to minimize downtime and improve machine reliability
· Develop and validate electrical schematics, ladder logic, and PLC/servo programs to execute advanced retrofits and modifications
· Own first-time power-up, commissioning, and final run-off of retrofitted machines to validate control accuracy, repeatability, and production readiness
· Serve as subject matter expert for complex electrical and control system issues
· Specify and define purchased electrical materials in coordination with engineering
· Perform advanced servo and drive system tuning, diagnostics, and optimization
· Lead on-site commissioning and customer support for warranty and non-warranty service
· Train and mentor Apprentice, Technician I, and Technician II employees
· Ensure electrical workmanship meets KRC quality, safety, and NFPA standards
Work assignment provided by the Projects Supervisor or Projects Coordinator. Work is planned and executed independently, drawing on OEM documentation, electrical schematics, control programs, and KRC quality, safety, and NFPA standards. Serves as a technical resource to Leads, Projects support personnel, engineering, and lower-level technicians.
Customer relations — Customer Production and Maintenance Management, engineering, and operators. OEM relations — Management, engineering, maintenance support, and parts personnel. KRC relations — Projects Management, engineering, purchasing support, internal administration, Leads, and other technicians, whom this role trains and mentors.

Requirements
· 5+ years of advanced CNC electrical experience
· Expert knowledge of machine tool electrical systems, magnetic panel layout, and control integration
· Advanced PLC/ladder logic programming and troubleshooting
· Advanced analog and digital servo and drive system tuning and diagnostics
· Thorough working knowledge of NFPA standards and electrical safety compliance
· Ability to specify and define purchased electrical materials
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to train and mentor
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds
· High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Must be willing to work in a customer environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements. The ability to work as a team player as well as independently is required.
