Electrical Systems Engineer

Waev Inc. is an electric mobility OEM founded in 2021 to manufacture, distribute, market, and support the GEM, Taylor-Dunn and Tiger brands. GEM was the first commercially-produced, street-legal low-speed vehicle in the United States. GEMs shuttle people and goods across city centers, residential communities, government campuses, colleges and universities, and other micro-environments. Founded in 1949, Taylor-Dunn burden carriers, personnel carriers, and stockchasers have been trusted solutions in a broad range of commercial environments and provide premium reliability, safety features, and all-electric efficiency for industrial grade applications. Tiger heavy-duty tow tractors have been towing cargo, baggage, parcel, and other equipment in ground support applications since 1981. Waev's headquarters and factory are located in Anaheim, California.

The Electrical Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the LSV / industrial electric vehicle research, design and integration. This individual will support all aspects of engineering, specifically hardware such as sensors, motors, wire harnesses, and electrical control units. The Electrical Systems Engineer will work in an exciting, fast-paced team environment.

 

Job Details Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead the research, development and prototyping of new electrical architectures for LSV (Low Speed Vehicle) and industrial electric vehicles
  • Lead the electrical hardware engineering activities and partner with mechanical engineering counterparts to integrate into next generation of LSV and Industrial electric vehicles
  • Lead the electrical engineering release meetings and processes with mechanical engineering and the technical prototyping team and ensure built success
  • Develop, manage and maintain electrical BOM, drawings, and electrical engineering specification
  • Develop and manage all documentations of the requirements, designs and validation report
  • Support all electrical engineering validation work to include testing of all system used in electrical vehicles
  • Release high quality automotive drawings, components and systems
  • Find best parts and best suppliers and develop competitive BOM costs
  • Provide analysis and troubleshooting of the vehicles throughout the development process
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering teams, technicians and manufacturing workers
  • Follow all company processes

 

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or higher
  • 4-6+ years hands-on Electrical Hardware System development experience
  • 4-6+ leading D, V, and PI development processes
  • Proven track record of automotive systems development and validation
  • Hands-on experience in development of automotive electrical components
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills

 

Preferred Skills

  • Electric Vehicle development or relevant experiences
  • Expertise on leading automotive validation processes and documentation
  • Strong people skills, able to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners
  • Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

 

Working Conditions

  • Role is full-time and in-person based within Waev's Anaheim manufacturing facility
  • Fast paced office environment
  • Design, prototyping, and test in facility
  • Travel as needed (Up to 20%)
