What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to perform detailed engineering tasks to include evaluation, analysis, calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports for the design, development, construction, and maintenance of all the electrical power, power measurement, and control elements required for the Advanced Development Engineering Center. This position interacts with engineers, suppliers, and other departments to facilitate project completion. This includes analyzing engineering results, direct resources and activities as required. How you will do it
Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for related project elements during initial project phases. Applies diversified knowledge of the market, current products, and operations to determine feasibility and recommend course of action throughout process through implementation.
Review project designs for compliance with applicable national and local codes, engineering principles, industry best practices, company standards, cost and schedule targets, and related specifications.
Troubleshooting and maintaining of electrical power (high, medium and low voltage) systems, power measurement devices, and control systems for test facility electrical and control infrastructure.
Serve as project lead for multiple and concurrent capital projects including resource allocation, meeting execution schedules and control of costs.
Seeks out new and creative applications and operational techniques. Implements improvements in processes, facilities, tools, and equipment to improve safety, quality, reliability, and productivity while providing leading edge testing capabilities to customers.
Conducts training in areas of expertise to improve knowledge of practices, techniques, and codes to fellow engineers, technicians and operators within the department.
Required
Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards including NEC, NFPA 70E, Arc Flash IEEE 1584-2018 and others.
2+ years of experience with electrical project engineering design in the HVAC industry with Journeyman’s Card
Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule driven work environment
Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects while maintaining high attention to details and documentation
Solid project management capabilities in a cross-functional team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating environment, including e-mail and Microsoft Office software; AutoCAD or equivalent engineering document preparation; and PLC programming languages
US Citizen
Preferred
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
Understanding of power measurement techniques for high (4160 V minimum), medium, and low voltage electrical supplies; experience with specification and installation of power measuring instrumentation
Manufacturing or test facility experience including large industrial machinery
Familiarity with installation and configuration of medium/high voltage variable frequency drives and related technology
Knowledge of basic control engineering
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $86,000 - $116,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
