Pay Range: Variable pay based on skills and experience: $24.00 – $30.00+/hour

Travel: Field travel required after in-house training

Experienced controls and automation technicians who can independently program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, build control panels, commission equipment, and support customers in the field can earn up to $30.00/hour. Candidates with a solid industrial electrical foundation and the aptitude to develop their PLC and automation skills can enter in at $24.00–$28.00/hour range with hands-on training support.

**Position Summary: **The Electrical Field Service Technician will support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and service of industrial electrical and automated systems at customer locations. The role combines electrical troubleshooting, controls, panel wiring, mechanical aptitude, and customer-facing field service. Technicians will work with PLCs, control panels, pumps, motors, fluid delivery systems, and automated industrial equipment. Compensation will be determined by how independently a technician can perform these responsibilities and the amount of training required to become fully productive.

**Advanced / Turnkey Technician, $30.00+/hour. **This level is designed for experienced controls, automation, and field-service professionals who can make an immediate impact with minimal ramp-up time.

**Experience Required: **

• Allen-Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Industrial controls and automation experience.
• Control panel building from electrical schematics.
• Electrical troubleshooting of:
• Equipment installation and commissioning experience.
• Ability to independently read electrical drawings and complete panel builds.
• Industrial field-service experience.
• Ability to independently diagnose electrical and controls problems at customer facilities.
• Strong understanding of automated manufacturing equipment.

Highly Transferable Backgrounds

Candidates may come from roles such as: Controls Technician, Automation Technician, Robotics Service Technician, Industrial Electrician, Machine Tool Electrician, Automation Specialist, Systems Integration Technician, Field Service Technician, PLC Technician.

• Experience supporting Fanuc, Kawasaki, or similar industrial robotics and automation platforms is highly transferable, particularly when that experience includes PLCs, controls, electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and automated equipment.

Developing / Trainee Technician, $24.00–$28.00/hour

Requires mechanical and electrical exposure with a strong industrial foundation and are ready to expand their knowledge of PLCs, controls, automation, and field service.

**Trainee Experiences Required: **

• Hands-on industrial electrical troubleshooting.
• Experience wiring industrial equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting or wiring motors and pumps.
• Exposure to electrical control panels.
• Ability to read basic electrical drawings or schematics.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in learning PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation.
• Willingness to travel and perform customer-site field service.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & Controls Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and repair industrial electrical and control-system issues.
• Troubleshoot motors, pumps, wiring, sensors, and related components.
• Test electrical circuits and identify equipment failures.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Troubleshoot control panels and automated equipment.
• Work with Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled systems based on experience level.
• Perform PLC troubleshooting and programming when qualified.

Control Panel & Equipment Wiring

• Wire industrial control panels and equipment according to electrical schematics.
• Install electrical components, controls, sensors, and field devices.
• Complete panel modifications and electrical upgrades.
• Verify wiring and equipment operation prior to startup.
• Troubleshoot completed electrical assemblies.

Installation & Commissioning

• Assist with or independently perform installation and commissioning of industrial systems.
• Complete electrical connections during equipment installation.
• Verify equipment functionality during startup.
• Make adjustments and troubleshoot issues during commissioning.
• Ensure equipment operates according to specifications before project completion.

Field Service & Customer Support

• Travel to industrial customer facilities for installation, startup, troubleshooting, and service.
• Diagnose equipment issues in the field and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Communicate technical findings clearly and professionally.
• Provide high-quality customer service while representing the organization on-site.
• Document completed service and repairs.
• Work independently as experience and technical ability develop.

**Qualifications Required **

• Previous hands-on industrial electrical experience.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment or machinery.
• Understanding of industrial wiring and electrical components.
• Ability to read or develop the ability to independently interpret electrical schematics.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to use electrical testing equipment and appropriate hand/power tools.
• Professional communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.

• Allen-Bradley PLC programming or troubleshooting experience.
